My first ritual of the morning and last ritual of the day is...

"Meditating. I try to give myself half an hour when I wake up and right before bed. It helps me go into my day feeling centered, and unwind before sleep. I have dark curtains in my room to keep out the light in the morning so I can focus. Sometimes I’ll play relaxing music too, especially at night. I love to hear a lot of piano - George Winston is so relaxing. I also really like Indian devotional bhajans."

Whether a morning meditation or afternoon cup of tea, the rituals we practice serve us more than we realize. They are our life’s bookends, moments we rely on and enjoy. For mamas especially, these small ceremonies are what gets us through the day. At A Wild Dove, we are so inspired by rituals, that we’ve asked some of our favorite women to share their smallest, most celebrated acts that help them feel their best.

"saying one thing I’m grateful for the second my feet hit the floor...a morning cuddle session with Benjamin...reading my daily lesson in A Course In Miracles…drinking warm water with lemon...and twenty minute meditation."

My first ritual of the morning is...

"to snuggle and kiss my kids. I intentionally name this as a ritual to mark it’s importance in each day of our lives. It is so healing to connect physically with those we love, to cherish the moment of waking up and starting the day together with love and care."

My first ritual of the morning is...

"drinking an Emergen-C drink with cold water.  I also get my coffee pot going!  I love the idea of flooding my body with vitamins first thing in the morning and I love my morning coffee. I have one cup a day to get my energy up!"

My last ritual of the evening is...

"washing my face, brushing my teeth, saying my prayers, and kissing my husband goodnight!"

My favorite ritual alone is...

" to get a very intense medical massage every Friday. It isn't relaxing but it literally keeps me moving!  I train clients sometimes 8 hours a day so my muscles get very sore. If I don't do these massages I risk getting an injury."

My favorite ritual to de stress is...

"on Sunday nights I have date night with my husband and we both are able to wind down, eat a good meal and enjoy each other's company!  I love eating out in NYC because there is always something new to try!"

My first ritual of the morning is...

"I'm a tea freak - I mean fanatic. First I start with water + Dr. Ohhirra's Probiotic, then move to Steep Rise's Citrus Tea with lemon + Ginger People's Ginger Juice, and finally to PGTips with almond milk, one right after the other. I've started a new rule for myself, which is to keep my phone on airplane mode for the 30 minutes I take to get up from bed, prepare for the day, steep all the teas and sit down at my desk."

My favorite morning ritual is...

"I live very close to the beach. So as soon as I get up, I want to breathe some fresh air and go for a walk. I ask Robert, my fiancé, if he wants to join me. Sometimes he doesn’t, but then it’s nice to go alone as well. I put any of one my Janessa Leone hats and swing by either Supbera Food & Bread for or Deus Ex Machina to get my beloved morning Matcha Latte with Almond milk."

My favorite ritual with my kids is...

"drawing and painting with them. We love to sit around together and create art. I'm usually playing music in the background to introduce my son to new genres or sounds since he plays drums and is into music as much as I am. We also love playing in our backyard together and just chilling. My children and I really like quiet time, just the three of us. We of course love to party too, but it's those quiet moments I most cherish."

Here, Kristen Shaw, fashion and celebrity hairstylist, owner of the super cool hair salon Cabin and Brand Ambassador to our fave hair line, Playa shares some of her favorite moments.

My first ritual of the morning is...

"going into the ocean. Living by the beach, I wake up and go down to the water, stretch, and jump in no matter the season on whatever day I can. Cold water therapy has become addictive (and amazing for skin + circulation) and I love it as a means for waking up."

My last ritual of the evening is...

"lighting some kind of incense (my favorite is Incienso de Sante Fe "Pinon") or candle (Maison Louis Marie, #4) - I find that the nostalgia of scent puts me into a really good sleep."

My favorite ritual alone is...

"drawing.  It makes sense of all the things going on in and around my life and mind."

My favorite ritual to de stress is...

"a salt bath with lavender and Eucalyptus oil!"

Up next is Ayla Beauty founder Dara Kennedy, on her favorite solo ritual.

My first ritual alone is...

"traveling. I really don’t like being away from my family, but I’ve always thought that traveling alone is a good way to remember who you are — and even more so when you have children. It doesn’t have to be a long trip, and you don’t have to do it often, but being by yourself in a different environment from time to time allows you to see and feel things more fully and deeply. One of my favorite Proust quotes is this: “The only true voyage of discovery, the only fountain of Eternal Youth, would be not to visit strange lands but to possess other eyes.” But a solo journey to a different place can help you see through those fresh eyes very effectively."

Medea Juhasz, founder of all natural wellness supplement, Catalyst Gold shares the ritual she saveurs when she’s alone.

My first ritual alone is...

"creating a gratitude list. I try to make sure I go over my gratitude list every day, sometimes multiple times a day. It is my favorite ritual that can be practiced waiting in line at the post office or riding the subway. Keeping my gratitude list in check transfers an activity of the mind to an actual act of the heart. It is a fantastic tool to have to lift my spirits or a great way to start my day off on the right foot."

Up next is Kimberly Johnson, founder of Magamama, an empowering community and resource for new mamas (and a speaker at the WMN Space pop-up this weekend!) She shares her most cherished moment of the day with her daughter -

My favorite ritual with my daughter is...

"when I climb in bed with her at night. After a day of running around, it is the time when our bodies get close. These are often the most soulful and deep moments between us when the things that really matter to her come to the surface, when she opens up to me about how her day was and how she is really feeling. She is a professional cuddler, and has code words like "butt launching in" when she wants tighter spooning, or "head on chest" when she wants me to put my arms around her. We both look forward to and get so much out of this closeness at the end of each day."

My Favorite Ritual With My Kids...

"is bath time. We love taking baths together before bed. It’s super relaxing, and my kids love creating custom blends depending on our moods. We’ll use salts, my Aromatherapy Collection (the Bedtime Treatment is a favorite), essential oils, and even dried herbs. The winter in Vermont can really dry out your skin, so sometimes we’ll add a few pumps of the Revitalizing Body Oil for extra hydration."

My last ritual of the day is...

"a shower. My post-day and pre-bed ritual is my favorite part of the day. A long hot shower with my favorite products is the perfect way to clear my energetic body and the masses of sweat and salt on my skin! I love all the Onda Beauty bath and shower products from Larissa Thomson. I can go crazy trying out their natural skin care selections. My favorites are the Coco Rose Body Polish, Saya Body Wash and Goe Body Oil."

The rituals we practice daily, whether a morning meditation, afternoon cup of tea, or evening snuggles, serve us more than we realize. They are the bookends to our day, the moments we come to rely on and enjoy. Rituals help us feel good and provide comfort in an otherwise chaotic world. For mamas especially, taking the time for these small ceremonies is what gets us through the day. At A Wild Dove, we are so inspired by rituals that we’ve asked some of our favorite mamas to take us through the small acts they incorporate into their day - whether with others or alone, and always with the intention of feeling their best. First up is Vintner’s Daughter, April Gargiulo.

My favorite ritual with my kids...

"well, we have so many rituals, but the most constant is reading books before bed. I have one girl snuggled up on either side of me and it is glorious. I’m trying to get them into hiking too, but they haven’t seen the light yet."

My first ritual of the morning...

"I tend to wake up later than everyone else, so I come downstairs and give everyone a good morning hug. My sweet husband already has my green tea ready to go and I either have gluten free toast or goat milk yogurt for breakfast. I take a few supplements in the am too - multi-vitamins, vitamin D and a multi-adaptogen for adrenal support."

My favorite ritual alone...

"is meditation. It is one of my favorites times of day. I don’t have a set time that I do it. You are supposed to, but that doesn’t work for me. I appreciate the space and time of meditation more if i don’t have the pressure of a specific time and place."
